Dırector's Statement
This story prepares the framework for examining and criticizing the various forms of violence which women are experiencing almost every day and the concept of masculinity in the patriarchal society and does this in a disturbing and radical tone like ‘a nail in the shoe’. At the same time, objectification of the woman and the alienation she is experiencing, and her realization of her own power as well as of the vanity of people around her communicated through her own perspective, thus the movie forces the audience to empathize with her.<br /> I am conveying the struggles of this woman who was raised in a traditional conservative family in Anatolia and married without getting much experience in life, through the concept of BDSM. Of course, this struggle could be described by completely different concepts, but I believe that the concept I have chosen has a fundamental connection with liberation and exploration. Besides, I believe that the reaction against socio-political violence on women’s bodies should be equally ‘radical’.
This film focuses on a woman who lives in Istanbul and is slowly drifting apart from her marriage as a result of the pressures she is experiencing in her marriage and in society. Fed up and overwhelmed by these, she will find her outbreak in an illicit love affair. Who is guilty? The woman, or her husband? Or can we put the blame on a person in such a situation?
